ClearCourse acquires Kurve and pointOne to extend hospitality technology portfolio

Software and embedded payments group ClearCourse has acquired London-based Kurve, the self-service point of sale technology provider and owner of the pointOne EPOS brand, in a transaction announced on 28 April 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The acquisition brings together ClearCourse's existing hospitality software portfolio and Kurve's self-service and EPOS technology stack, which serves quick service restaurants, bakeries, cafes, theatres, and other multi-site hospitality operators. Kurve's product suite includes self-service kiosks, digital ordering systems, handheld point of sale devices, kitchen display systems, and cloud-based EPOS software, all built for operators requiring consistency and control across multiple sites.

Kurve itself acquired the pointOne EPOS brand in April 2024, combining its Android-based self-service platform with pointOne's established EPOS software, which has been operating in the hospitality and arts sectors since 2001 and is deployed across more than 2,500 outlets including restaurants, pubs, coffee shops, theatres, and venue catering operations. That 2024 transaction also reshaped the leadership of the combined business: Steven Rolfe, co-founder of pointOne, became CEO of Kurve, while Steve Boyes - Kurve's founder - moved to the role of Chairman.

Kurve's clients include Ottolenghi, Pasta Evangelists, Pizza Union, and a range of branded multi-site restaurant groups. The platform integrates with third-party systems including Xero, Sage Intacct, Deliverect, Fourth, and Como.

ClearCourse was established in London in 2018 and is backed by Aquiline Capital Partners. The group provides vertical software and embedded payments solutions to more than 20,000 customers in the UK and Ireland and employs over 800 people. Since its founding, ClearCourse has completed more than 40 acquisitions across its core verticals, which include hospitality, retail, healthcare, field services, and the public and not-for-profit sectors.

The group's existing hospitality brands include TISSL, Rezcontrol, and Giftpro, which serve fine dining operators, hotels, and gift voucher management respectively. The Kurve acquisition adds self-service and digital ordering capabilities to that portfolio and extends ClearCourse's hospitality reach into quick service restaurants, bakeries, and cultural venues - categories not previously covered by its existing brands.

The acquisition is positioned as a response to two converging pressures in the UK hospitality market. Rising wage costs and ongoing staffing shortages have driven operators towards self-service and digital ordering technology, which reduces reliance on front-of-house staff while lifting average order values and increasing throughput. Quick service restaurants recorded the largest penetration growth of any major eating-out channel in 2025, a trend that directly favours Kurve's self-service-first product architecture.

Beyond the immediate commercial rationale, ClearCourse frames the deal as a step towards a more integrated commerce platform - one in which gift card redemption, table and kiosk ordering, self-serve, and embedded card and direct debit payments function as a connected system rather than as separate products. Kurve's existing integration framework, which already links EPOS and ordering functionality with payments and back-office systems, provides a technical foundation for that broader platform strategy.

The acquisition is the latest in a buy-and-build programme that has seen Aquiline-backed ClearCourse systematically acquire cloud-native, vertically focused software businesses and embed its own payments infrastructure within those customer relationships.
