A longstanding specialist manufacturer of products using advanced composites materials has been acquired out of administration. Hereford Glass Fibre Limited fell into administration earlier this month following a period of financial pressure.
The Hereford-based company, which was founded in 1986, manufactured bespoke and off-the-shelf products for customers across the automotive, utilities, industrial, defence and leisure sectors.
Hereford Glass Fibre’s capabilities spanned carbon fibre, advanced thermoplastics, glass reinforced plastic and polyurethane systems, supported by prototyping, reverse engineering, large-scale 3D printing, laser scanning and tooling services.
However, a combination of trading and historic balance sheet challenges led to the company experiencing a period of financial pressure. Matthew Whitchurch and Jonathan Dunn of FRP Advisory were appointed as joint administrators of Hereford Glass Fibre Limited on June 16 2026.
Upon their appointment, the joint administrators immediately completed a sale of the company to HGF 2 Limited, in a deal that preserves the business as a going concern and secures the future of all 20 employees, with staff transferring to the buyer under TUPE.
Matthew Whitchurch, joint administrator and partner at FRP Advisory, commented: "Hereford Glass Fibre is a highly specialised manufacturing business with strong technical capabilities and an experienced workforce.”
"While the company faced a number of financial challenges, its specialist capabilities and experienced team remained attractive to potential purchasers. We are pleased to have secured a sale that preserves the business and safeguards all 20 jobs.”
"The transaction provides continuity for customers and suppliers, while delivering the best available outcome for creditors in the circumstances.”
In accounts for the year to July 31 2024, the company’s fixed assets were valued at approximately £331,000 and current assets at close to £763,000, with net assets amounting to around £537,000.
