Leicestershire-headquartered construction materials firm Breedon Group has acquired Hardcrete, a prominent concrete supplier based in the South of England. Following the acquisition, the company will become part of concrete business Breedon Minimix.
Founded in 2000, Hardcrete is a family-run business that serves customers across London, Hertfordshire and Middlesex. The company supplies ready-mix concrete, concrete line pump hire and minimix concrete.
The company now joins brands including 1st Mix and Express Minimix as part of Breedon Minimix, with the acquisition aimed at further strengthening and developing the business. Breedon Minimix provides smaller loads of ready-mix concrete to projects requiring lower volumes and to sites with restricted access.
Breedon GB Managing Director for Cement and Building Products Ian Smith described Hardcrete as “a strong, valuable addition to Breedon”, saying the acquisition “reflects our continued commitment to investing in businesses that strengthen our market position in key regions and support our long-term growth strategy as nationally trusted concrete suppliers.”
He continued: "This acquisition enhances our South East coverage, enabling us to offer the reliability, quality and service our Minimix customers expect as we expand our geographical coverage. With over 100 trucks operating out of more than 130 locations, we continue to lead the UK market in minimix concrete."
Jeremy Edinborough, General Manager for Minimix at Breedon GB, said: "Hardcrete’s strong reputation and established presence support our ambitious plans to grow the Minimix brand across the country.”
Edinborough added that, post-acquisition, the Hardcrete brand and team would continue to operate as usual, while the deal would help to increase Breedon’s “throughputs at strategically important sites such as Luton, Stevenage, Theale and Woodham."
Hardcrete Administration and Compliance Manager Joely Fletcher added that the deal would give the business “the support and security to continue to provide our customers with the highest level of service and quality ready-mixed concrete & concrete pumping services”.
