Enrogen, a manufacturer of diesel generators based in East Yorkshire, has been acquired by private equity-backed Italian firm Visa S.p.A. in a deal supported by KBS Corporate. The deal is expected to help Enrogen capitalise on growth in the diesel generator market.
Founded in 2005, Pocklington-based Enrogen designs, manufactures and installs diesel generators for clients ranging from data centres to construction sites and the industrial sector.
The company was founded by Gavin Wilkinson, with James Brown soon becoming an equal shareholder in the business. Following more than 20 years of ownership, Wilkinson and Brown instructed KBS Corporate to explore the company’s strategic options.
KBS Corporate Associate Director George Barnes ultimately led a transaction that saw the company acquired by Visa S.p.A. Based in Fontanelle in the north east of Italy, Visa S.p.A. is a manufacturer of the ONIS VISA generator brand and a portfolio company of international private equity firm H.I.G. Capital.
Lorenzo and Marco Barro, co-chief executives of Visa, said that the deal would enable the company to strengthen its presence in international markets, adding that the UK was particularly attractive in terms of size, growth and the scope to “leverage new commercial channels for cross-selling opportunities."
Raffaele Legnani, Managing Director and head of H.I.G.'s Italian office, and Giovanni Guglielmi, Managing Director at H.I.G., said: "With the acquisition of Enrogen, Visa continues its industry consolidation efforts, particularly at an international level. We are pleased to continue supporting the Group in its ambitious growth strategy."
KBS Corporate’s George Barnes commented: "The acquisition by Onis Visa will allow the Enrogen team to continue to build upon the growth the sector is seeing. Enrogen's track record of designing and building complex genset for critical industries is something we look forward to following."
