Digital health and pharmacy group MedPal AI has acquired an Aldbury-headquartered provider of electronic medication administration record software to care homes and pharmacies.
Solid State Technologies Limited, trading as eMARx, provides a digital system of record for medication administration in care homes.
The acquisition of the company by MedPal AI brings in recurring high-margin software revenues and an installed base that spans national care groups and independent operators.
Following the acquisition, MedPal AI now combines B2B care home supply, NHS pharmacy dispensing at scale, the Juno agentic AI health companion and a private clinic with eMARx’s software layer, which sits inside care homes. According to MedPal, this creates a unique proposition to serve the UK care home market.
The deal is described as adding the final software layer to MedPal’s Health OS, connecting NHS prescriptions, robotic dispensing, delivery and barcode-verified bedside administration within care homes.
The group is now seeking to accelerate national roll-out and reportedly plans to bundle eMARx at low or zero-cost for homes that exclusively use its pharmacy services. This roll-out aims to enhance the group’s pharmacy revenue, while improving medication safety and oversight for residents, families and the NHS.
MedPal AI will pay an initial consideration of approximately £380,000 for the firm, based on the closing mid-market price of 3.4 pence per MedPal share on 17 July 2026. Additionally, a completion accounts adjustment of around £94,000 is expected to be issued by the end of July 2026, comprising around 35 per cent cash and 65 per cent in new ordinary shares, bringing the total consideration to around £470,000.
In the year to March 31 2026, eMARX generated unaudited revenue of £740,000, along with post-tax profits of £110,000.
The deal will also see all seven eMARx shareholders, including five members of the firm’s operating team, become MedPal shareholders.
Jason Drummond, founder and Chief Executive of MedPal, commented: "This is the deal that completes our Health OS. Medication is the heartbeat of every care home, and with eMARx we now own the digital layer where it actually happens: at the bedside, dose by dose, in real time.”
"Combine that with robotic dispensing at Sarus Court, our supply relationships and Juno, our agentic AI companion, and MedPal can offer Britain's care homes something we believe nobody else can: one integrated service that gets the right medicine to the right resident at the right time, every time, with families able to trust that their loved ones are safe."
eMARx founder John Richardson said that, as he approached retirement, his priority was to find “the right custodian” for the platform, adding that in MedPal AI, the firm has “found exactly that.”
He continued: "The combination of eMARx and MedPal's Health OS will deliver a powerful offering for the care home market, and joining the wider MedPal AI team is a great opportunity for our development team, who I am delighted will share in that future as MedPal shareholders."
