A South Yorkshire-based manufacturer of heavy lifting equipment has been acquired by a Swedish corporate group. APP Lifting Services Limited, which is based in Doncaster and also has a smaller business unit in Barking, East London, has more than two decades of experience in the manufacture, hire, repair and supply of lifting equipment.
APP Lifting Services develops and sells a range of lifting equipment, with a particular focus on heavy lifting equipment in the manufacturing sector. It has 23 employees and generates annual sales of around £3.5 million.
The company provides customers with both standard and customised solutions developed to specific requirements, including multi-point lifting beams, lifting frames and manual and electric counterweight lifting beams. The firm’s Barking operation, meanwhile, rents and sells standard lifting products.
Privately owned Swedish corporate group Amplex AB has now acquired all shares in the company. Amplex AB, which consists of around 30 companies, specialises in acquiring, owning and developing technology-based businesses.
The group’s companies are primarily in the lifting and materials handling, workplace safety and lighting sectors and it has a total of 675 employees across the UK, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Ireland, France, Italy, Germany, Canada, China and the USA.
Following the sale, Chief Executive and former owner Paul Wright, who will continue to lead the business, described Amplex as “a financially stable, committed and long-term owner that strongly believes in the power of good entrepreneurship.”
He continued: “Within the Amplex Group, APP will receive the support and tools it needs to continue its development, which will benefit our highly valued customers and employees.”
Henrik Johansson, Head of the Industrial Business Area within the Amplex Group, added: "APP Lifting Services has a strong offering and high technical expertise in its market niche, which is customised solutions for heavy lifting.”
"The company's products complement our already broad product range in lifting technology and material handling, and add valuable customer relationships in the UK."
