A Warwickshire-based drainage specialist has been acquired by engineering services firm Ipsum Group for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition of Wilkinson Environmental is Ipsum’s second of the year, following its purchase of liquid waste specialist CountyClean in January.
Founded in 2003 and employing approximately 13 staff, Wilkinson Environmental is a major regional civil engineering, drainage and sewer specialist that has built a strong reputation across the Midlands.
The company has decades of experience working on projects including sewer lining, infrastructure work and concrete cutting in areas such as Worcestershire, Leicestershire and Oxfordshire.
The acquisition brings decades of technical expertise into Ipsum Group, as well as strong regional capability. The deal supports the group’s capacity to deliver integrated, end-to-end engineering and environmental services to its growing UK base of customers operating in regulated infrastructure sectors.
Ipsum Group CEO Andrew Cowan commented: “The strong technical expertise, operational capability and commitment to service excellence of the Wilkinson team make them a perfect fit for Ipsum.”
Cowan added that the deal strengthens Ipsum Group’s presence in the Midlands and boosts its ability to provide “an enhanced civil engineering and infrastructure service offering to customers in complex and regulated environments.”

Lancashire-headquartered Ipsum Group employs more than 1,000 staff in the UK and provides engineering services in the power, infrastructure, water and telecoms industries.
As well as building on Ipsum’s acquisition of CountyClean earlier this year, the deal follows a number of transactions completed by the group in 2025, including Core Control Solutions, Wootton & Wootton, Aquaflow Drainage Services and Matrix Power.
In the year to December 31 2024, the group’s holding company Hydro Topco Limited reported revenue of £127.6 million, up from around £56.5 million in its previous accounts. Despite seeing pre-tax losses increase from £9.3 million to £14.6 million, the group recovered from an operating loss of more than £880,000 to record an operating profit of around £467,000.
