Private equity-backed environmental and ecology solutions firm Global Ecology & Environmental Group (Ecology Group) has expanded into the North West with the acquisition of multidisciplinary environmental consultancy E3P.
The acquisition of 80-strong E3P, which has offices in Manchester and Birmingham and generates turnover of more than £8 million a year, is Ecology Group’s ninth since it was established in spring 2025.
E3P was founded in 2013 and was previously entirely owned by its directors and senior managers, led by Chief Executive, founder and main shareholder Martin Dyer, alongside directors Dan Cox, Steph Cox, Andy Edgar and Rob Horseman.
The company’s expertise ranges from arboriculture, ecology, contaminated land and geotechnical, to heritage, archaeology and acoustics.
Its recent projects include advising Peel and Kellen Homes on the 1,400-home development at Mosley Common in Wigan. The firm is also working with Bellway Homes and Vistry to deliver 600 homes at the former Brackley Golf Course in Bolton.
E3P has also provided consultancy services to Novo Bluemantle for the regeneration of the former Horwich locomotive works. The site is set to deliver 1,700 homes, along with a link road and commercial and industrial space.
Martin Dyer described Ecology Group as “a business which recognises that each consultancy within it is a leader in their own, respective fields.”
He continued: “Perhaps most importantly, the group's approach to developing a people-focused business aligns perfectly with the culture we've nurtured at E3P.”
“The group has seen impressive growth since its inception last year, and we're looking forward to working with our fellow companies and the group team on accelerating the strategic direction of the business."
Since it was established last year, Ansor-backed Ecology Group has acquired MKA Ecology, Earth Active, Living Earth, Burton Reid Associates, Johns Associates, Wildwood Ecology, Mine Environment Management and, earlier this month, Nicholas Pearson Associates.
Following the latest acquisition, Chief Financial Officer Chris Heyes said: "In just over a year of operation, we today welcome our ninth business, and 80 more specialists to the group. With its depth and breadth of expertise, E3P is a hugely valuable addition to our growing group, and its strong reach in the North and Midlands will enable us to provide even more to our clients."
