Airbench Limited, an Essex-based company that manufactures and sells air purification systems, has been acquired by Amplex AB, a corporate group based in Sweden. Airbench Limited has a head office in Colchester and a metal workshop in Tollesbury.
Founded in 1993 under the name WorkPoint Environments, Airbench manufactures and sells a range of products used to capture, contain and filter dust and fumes from working environments, including cross-draught systems, downdraught benches, coolant mist filters and air cleaning systems.
The company, which manufactures all of its products in-house in Colchester, reportedly generates turnover of around £6.5 million and employs 23 staff. The firm is run by Managing Director Simon Cook, who will continue to lead the business following its acquisition.
Simon Cook commented: "This is a fantastic opportunity for us to grow and develop within a larger group that strongly believes in the power of good business acumen. We look forward to benefiting from Amplex's experience, tools and network to further improve our products and services."

In accounts for the year to September 30 2024, Airbench Limited’s fixed assets were valued at around £174,000 and current assets at approximately £4.2 million, with net assets amounting to nearly £3.3 million.
