Trojan Energy Limited, an Aberdeen-based electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions company, has been acquired out of administration by Connected Kerb subsidiary Urban EV Infrastructure Limited.
Founded in 2016, Trojan Energy designs and builds EV charging solutions primarily targeted at residents parking on street, providing fast vehicle charging at, or near, the home. Trojan’s patented technology avoids cluttering the street by sitting flat and flush to the pavement.
By 2026, the company claimed it had installed approximately 1,500 charging points, largely in London. Like many scale-up businesses operating in the tech and infrastructure spaces, the firm required significant ongoing investment to support technology development and network expansion.
Despite strong progress in deploying charge points and further advancing its solutions, Trojan was unable to secure the required level of funding to drive its long-term growth plans. It ultimately fell into administration after exploring strategic and investment options, with no solvent outcome possible.
In accounts for the year to December 31 2024, the company reported turnover of around £3.8 million, compared to £5.1 million in the period from November 1 2022 to December 31 2023, while operating losses narrowed from £6.2 million to £4.3 million. At the time, the firm’s net liabilities totalled nearly £4.1 million.
Geoff Jacobs and Alistair McAlinden from Interpath Advisory were appointed joint administrators to Trojan Energy Limited on February 9 2026. Immediately following their appointment, the joint administrators completed a sale of the company’s business and assets to charging point provider Urban EV Infrastructure via a pre-pack deal that saves all 63 jobs at the firm.
Geoff Jacobs, Interpath Managing Director and joint administrator, said: “Demand for accessible on-street vehicle charging infrastructure continues to grow across the UK, including for the estimated 60% of UK households without access to off-street parking.”
“We’re therefore pleased to have secured this transaction which will allow the Trojan technology to contribute to the future of the UK’s EV charging infrastructure. We wish Urban EV Infrastructure Limited every success.”
Alistair McAlinden, head of Interpath in Scotland and joint administrator, said: “The transaction also facilitates the transfer of all Trojan Energy’s team of employees to Urban EV Infrastructure Limited. Customers who wish to continue to use the technology should contact Urban EV Infrastructure Limited.”
Chris Pateman-Jones, CEO of Connected Kerb, said the deal marked “a pivotal moment in our mission to make reliable, accessible EV charging available to everyone, especially those without driveways.”
Pateman-Jones continued: “Trojan’s cutting-edge subsurface technology perfectly complements Connected Kerb’s long-life, smart charging infrastructure. Together, we’re building a future where clean transport is easy, equitable, and built for all communities.”
Connected Kerb said that it planned to maintain Trojan’s existing network, while integrating the Flat & Flush Hub and Home products into its own portfolio, accelerating its plans to deliver EV charging infrastructure to high-density neighbourhoods.
Ian Mackenzie, CEO of Trojan Energy, said: “This deal brings Trojan Energy’s pioneering Flat & Flush charge points inside one of the UK’s largest and fastest-growing EV charging networks, Connected Kerb.”
“The acquisition allows existing and new customers to benefit from a larger combined network, and accelerates the benefits of the energy transition for EV drivers, their communities and the planet.”
