A children’s day nursery in Brighton has been acquired by an experienced childcare operator. The acquisition of Little Earthworms by Vish Dhamija was overseen by property adviser Christie & Co.
Little Earthworms, which is located on Ditchling Road in Brighton, was founded in 2008 and has capacity for up to 45 children, with a Good rating from regulator Ofsted. The nursery has an eco-friendly focus, serving organic meals and employing sustainable practices.
Directors Rachel Humphrey and Sylvia Roberts have sought to integrate solar energy, organic nutrition and nature-based learning into Little Earthworms’ daily operations. The directors are now handing ownership of the nursery over to Vish Dhamija, who runs a nursery in Thanet, Kent.
Humphrey and Roberts said that they had started the nursery in order to provide a space where children were grown and nourished with care, something they said the wider childcare sector was failing to offer.
They added that they were pleased to be passing the nursery on to a new owner who would ensure that it would “continue to thrive as an educational, nurturing, homely setting for many years to come”.
Vish Dhajima said that despite some “hiccups along the way” the deal had been successfully completed, thanking Sophie Willcox of Christie & Co for her work in ensuring the transaction got over the line.
Sophie Willcox, Director - Childcare & Education at Christie & Co, said she was “glad to have worked with the sellers in finding them a like-minded buyer whose primary focus is continuing to provide exceptional childcare with a happy team."
Following the acquisition, the nursery will continue to operate from its existing location, with no disruption to its services. Christie & Co stated: "Parents and carers can expect the same dedication to quality, sustainability, and child-centred learning that has defined Little Earthworms since its inception."
