Manchester-based clinical negligence and personal injury firm Fletchers Group has continued its acquisitive growth after agreeing a deal to acquire family law specialist Rayden Solicitors for an undisclosed sum.
The deal adds a new specialist pillar to Fletchers Group’s serious injury and clinical negligence offering, as well as marking its first move into the family law area. The deal, the group’s tenth in the past four years, follows its acquisitions of Scott Rees & Co Solicitors and the clinical negligence division of boutique practice Sheldon Davidson Solicitors (SDS) earlier this year.
In the year ending April 30 2025, Fletchers Solicitors Limited reported turnover of around £77 million, up from approximately £58.1 million, but saw operating profits dip from £9.1 million to slightly under £8.1 million.
Rayden Solicitors was founded by Katherine Rayden in 2005 and has expanded from its base near St Albans to have offices across Central London, Birmingham, Buckinghamshire and Essex. The company employs 113 staff, making it one of the largest specialist family law practices in England and Wales.
In accounts for the year to March 31 2025, Raydens Limited reported turnover of £11.4 million, up from £10.3 million a year earlier, while increasing its operating profit from around £822,000 to £1.4 million.
Following the acquisition, the company will retain its brand, offices and leadership team, with Katherine Rayden taking on a role on the Fletchers Group executive committee.
Peter Haden, CEO of Fletchers Group (pictured above), commented: “Our strategy is clear – to invest in brilliant specialist firms and help them grow more quickly, help more clients, and strengthen their organisation.”
“We’re keen to apply the same successful approach to Raydens as we have in our serious injury and clinical negligence practice, moving at pace to build a national leader in family law through a mix of organic and inorganic growth.”
Haden added: “Our experience in scaling up specialist legal practices gives us a strong platform to support Raydens’ next stage of growth, drawing on our expertise in marketing, client service, people development, and the use of technology and AI to improve efficiency and deliver exceptional outcomes for clients.”
Katherine Rayden said that the deal would benefit the firm’s colleagues and clients, while enabling it to retain its brand. She added that joining Fletchers would also provide the company with “access to more resources and support in all areas of the business, helping us to accelerate our growth plans and thereby augmenting our capabilities and our offering to clients.”
