A Gloucestershire care home has been acquired after its long-term owner decided to retire. Kingsley House Nursing Home in Tetbury has been acquired by Kandiah Vijayakumar after being owned by Aleem Siddiqi for more than 25 years.
The nursing home, which is registered for 37 residents, occupies a historic 35-bedroom detached Cotswold stone property and is one of the oldest care homes in Tetbury. Under Aleem Siddiqi’s ownership, the home has undergone continuous improvement, most recently with an extension to create additional bedrooms.
After Siddiqi decided to retire, the home was purchased by Kandiah Vijayakumar for an undisclosed sum following a confidential sale process with Simon Harvey at specialist business property adviser Christie & Co.
Mr Vijayakumar, who owns four other care homes in Yeovil, Castle Cary, Sherborne (Dorset) and Goatacre (Wiltshire), said that he was particularly attracted to the location of Kingsley House Nursing Home.
He added that he was confident that value could be added, as has been successfully achieved at the four other properties in the group, and that the deal aligns with the group’s goal of expanding in the South West of England.
Simon Harvey, Senior Director – Care at Christie & Co, commented: “Knowing how sought after care homes in the area are, especially in such a popular location and with something of the quality of Kingsley House, we were delighted to have been chosen by Mr Siddiqi to act on his behalf and to assist his retirement.”
“The home generated a great deal of interest from a wide range of parties, with multiple offers having been received, all of which underpin the market, not just in Gloucestershire but the wider South West, where we once again saw record transaction levels in 2025.”
“Having known Vijay Kumar for some time and closely followed his expansion, we were pleased to be able to match his requirements with a home such as Kingsley House and are delighted to have assisted his continued expansion.”
