BlueSky, a packaging solutions specialist based in Grimsby, has been acquired by Chicago, US-based hybrid packaging supplier Berlin Packaging. The acquisition strengthens Berlin Packaging’s UK market position, expanding its presence and capabilities in the region.
BlueSky specialises in packaging solutions for the pharmaceutical, beauty, personal care, nutraceutical, home care and beverage markets. The family-owned business supplies metal, glass and plastic packaging solutions, including specialised containers, dispensing systems and closures, to small and medium-sized customers.
In accounts for the year to December 31 2025, Bluesky (UK) Limited reported turnover of approximately £12.5 million, up from £11.6 million a year earlier, while operating profits rose from £2 million to £2.5 million.
The deal is described as complementing Berlin Packaging’s sourcing, innovation and supply chain capabilities and follows a number of recent transactions that the company has made as it seeks to bolster its European presence.
In 2025, the company acquired Italian cosmetics firm Cosmei in a bid to expand its reach in the personal care sector, while it also announced a partnership with Origin Materials, leveraging that company’s PET 1881 caps in order to enable lighter packaging.
Marcel Schröder, President of Berlin Packaging EMEA, said that the acquisition of BlueSky was “a strategic step in expanding our presence and capabilities in the UK market.”
