A residential care home in a village on the western edge of Hull city has been sold after its longstanding owners decided to retire. Kirkella Mansions, located in the village of Kirk Ella, is registered with the Care Quality Commission for a maximum of 25 residents.
The care home, which was rated “Good” in all areas at its last regulatory inspection, has been acquired by Wakefield-based Elian Care Limited from former owners Jeff and Yvette Donnelly for an undisclosed sum, following a confidential sales process with Christie & Co.
Jeff and Yvette Donnelly commented: “After 40 years in the care sector, we felt it was the right time to retire. We are delighted that Elian Care Ltd, through Ola and Rebecca, are taking Kirkella Mansions forward to continue the hard work and dedication this business needs to champion elderly care.”
In a statement, an Elian Care director said: “We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Jeff and Yvette for their incredible dedication over the years; they have built a wonderful reputation for heart-led care, and we are honoured to take over the mantle from them.”
“Our focus remains steadfast on providing first-class care and a supportive home for all our residents. We look forward to building upon that legacy and working closely with the exceptional staff team to carry on the good work that Jeff and Yvette have fostered at the home.”
The sale process was run by Jonathan Wickens, Director – Care at Christie & Co, who commented: “Elian Care has demonstrated a strong desire to continue the good work, and we are sure that, with the team that is already in place, the Home will go from strength to strength, providing good quality Care for the elderly residents of Kirk Ella and surrounding areas.”
In accounts for the year ending March 31 2025, Kirkella Mansions Limited’s fixed assets were valued at approximately £631,000 and current assets at slightly over £573,000, with net assets amounting to around £822,000. During the year, the business’ average number of employees was 29.
