Mansfield-based IDSL Group has strengthened its position in the UK fire door market with the acquisition of a specialist provider of fire door inspection, maintenance and installation services. IDSL Group is backed by private equity firm LDC.
The acquisition of Fire Doors Rite expands IDSL’s national compliance offering, while deepening the group’s capabilities in critical infrastructure environments. The deal also adds specialist teams and technology to the group’s offering, boosting the compliance support it offers to building owners and responsible persons.
Fire Doors Rite, which is based in Plymouth and London, provides services including inspections, repairs, maintenance and certified installations across commercial, government and defence estates. The acquisition strengthens IDSL Group’s end-to-end service offering, ranging from the supply of certified doorsets to compliance and reporting.
IDSL Group Chief Executive Ash Malhan commented: "We are building the UK's leading fire-door-focused testing, inspection, certification and compliance business. Welcoming Fire Doors Rite accelerates our strategy in the defence segment and strengthens our Compliance Services division which is now two-thirds of the business.”
Following the acquisition, Malhan said that, as with other companies in the group, Fire Doors Rite would be “supported by our ongoing product business following our investment in a third facility at our Mansfield HQ.”
Malhan continued: “Our 'knowledge built, compliance-led' approach is powered by market-leading IP, deep investment in testing and technical teams, and field technology that enables our engineers to deliver demonstrable compliance for customers."
David Bains, partner, head of East Midlands and East of England at LDC, said: "Ash and the team at IDSL Group continue to deliver on a clear strategy to lead the UK market in fire door compliance and services.”
"Fire Doors Rite adds specialist expertise and capacity that strengthens what the business can offer customers operating in highly regulated environments. We're excited to support the team as they scale both organically and through complementary acquisitions."
IDSL Group secured investment from LDC in May 2024. Since then, it has increased its turnover by 45 per cent to £51 million, completed the acquisition of Hartland Fire, expanded its manufacturing footprint through the addition of its new Mansfield facility and grown its headcount to 425.
