ITI Group has expanded its presence in the nuclear sector with the acquisition of a nuclear engineering services specialist. The acquisition of Noveum will help ITI Group to meet rising demand for nuclear and defence services.
Staffordshire-based Noveum is an expert in nuclear and defence systems, providing system and design services. The company’s team of engineers has experience covering full project lifecycles, from requirements capture and design, to build, test, install and commission.
The deal is set to strengthen Sheffield-headquartered ITI Group’s capabilities in civil and defence nuclear capabilities, while boosting its capacity through the addition of a significant number of Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel (SQEP).
ITI Group Chief Executive Dominic Murphy said that the group has “long admired” Noveum and the reputation it has built within the nuclear sector, adding that ITI Group can now offer “a complete service” to the critical infrastructure sectors it serves.
He continued: "The timing is strategic: as the UK targets 24GW of nuclear power by 2050 and ramps up defence investment, ITI and Noveum are joining forces to meet this rising demand. The depth of engineering knowledge and experience available is required to support and drive safety and efficiency improvements into our clients' operations."
ITI Group chairman Mark Hardy commented: "The UK's 2050 nuclear ambitions and post-review defence commitments mark a surge in opportunity - and ITI's acquisition of Noveum positions it to take a leading position in this important sector."
Stating that the nuclear sector was “undergoing a renewed period of development”, Noveum Managing Director Roger Turner said that the deal meant that the combined business was “well placed to better service the ever-growing civil and defence nuclear enterprise sectors for control and safety systems in the industry."
ITI Group specialises in systems integration for industrial applications across civil and defence nuclear enterprises, manufacturing, life sciences, power and utilities, renewables, oil and gas and warehousing.
