A kitchen and bathroom business based in Kent has been acquired after being brought back to market, having been close to administration. Ream Kitchens Limited is based in Chatham and operates from a showroom in Gillingham.
The company, a family-run business operating since 1979, encountered financial challenges after its leadership team was affected by a combination of personal bereavement and health issues.
An initial attempt to sell the business proved unsuccessful, leading to Ream Kitchens’ directors engaging Opus Restructuring and Insolvency with a view to placing the company into administration.
However, following a review, Opus partner Ben Stanyon identified an alternative, with the company subsequently being brought back to market. This ultimately resulted in a successful share sale, protecting all existing jobs at the company.
Ben Stanyon commented: "We could see very quickly that this was a fundamentally good business that had been through an incredibly difficult period. It had a strong reputation, a great team, and real potential for the future.”
"While administration was an option, our focus is always on achieving the best possible outcome for the business and its stakeholders. In this case, that meant taking a step back and exploring whether we could secure a sale instead.”
"I'm pleased we were able to deliver that outcome, protecting jobs and giving the business the fresh start it deserved."
The deal sees Ream Kitchens taken on by new owner Warren Wright, who plans to build on the company’s strong foundations to expand its offering and explore opportunities in new markets.
Wright commented: "Ream Kitchens is a fantastic business with a strong local reputation and a highly skilled team. We're delighted to have completed the acquisition and are excited about what comes next.”
"There is a real opportunity to grow the business further, including expanding into new markets, while continuing to deliver the quality and service the company is known for."
