Kids Planet Day Nurseries, a major UK nursery group and one of the most acquisitive operators in the sector, has expanded with the acquisition of a day nursery in Cleckheaton. Katie’s Kinder Care, which was established in 2006, was sold for an undisclosed sum.
Founded by Kate Lodge, the nursery caters for up to 72 children aged up to five years and is set within eight acres of grounds. Lodge brought the nursery to market in order to step away owing to family commitments.
Grace Day, Business Agent – Childcare & Education at Christie & Co, ran a confidential sale process that resulted in the nursery being acquired by Kids Planet Day Nurseries, in a deal that takes its total number of UK settings to more than 240.

The acquisition of Katie’s Kinder Care continues Kids Planet’s rapid acquisitive growth. In the past month alone, the Cheshire-headquartered group has acquired a pair of nurseries in Penrith and one setting in Northumberland.
Founded with just two sites in 2008, the private equity-backed business has expanded through acquisitions and development to establish itself as one of the UK’s biggest nursery operators, with sites across the country.
In the year to March 31 2025, a period when it increased its portfolio from 189 sites to 233, Kids Planet Day Nurseries Limited reported turnover of £204.5 million, up from around £144 million a year earlier, while cutting operating losses from £7.2 million to around £1.8 million.
