Professional services group Knights has completed its latest acquisition with a deal for a longstanding Thames Valley law firm. The acquisition of THP Solicitors is valued at £4 million on a cash and debt-free basis, subject to working-capital adjustments.
The bolt-on deal expands Knights’ presence in the Thames Valley, where THP Solicitors has operated for more than 35 years. Initially trading as The Head Partnership, the firm was acquired by its current owners around 16 years ago.
Since then, the company has built a reputation for providing legal services covering a range of practice areas, including particular strengths in family, real estate and private wealth.
Post-acquisition, Knights plans to bring the THP team together with its own in its recently refurbished Reading office, with THP’s current offices in Reading and Henley-on-Thames being vacated.
The deal follows Knights’ 2025 expansion into the Thames Valley through its acquisition of IBB Law, with Chief Executive David Beech saying the THP takeover “represents a compelling bolt-on opportunity that further increases our scale in an attractive and growing market.”
Beech continued: "THP's expertise will strengthen our capabilities, broadening our full-service offering for clients across the region, whilst leveraging our premium Reading office and our recent investment there.”
"The business has a strong cultural fit, and we are confident that combining its talented team with our scale and infrastructure will provide a strong foundation for future growth."
THP Solicitors partner Rachel Gaylor said that, after building a strong local reputation and client base, joining Knights would provide the firm with “the platform that we need for the next stage of our growth.”
She continued: "Our clients will benefit from access to a broader range of services and expertise, while our colleagues will have greater opportunities as part of a larger national business with scale and resources.
