Aquilar, a provider of leak detection systems, has been acquired by n Industries, becoming the latest business to join the growing group of UK SME industrial companies. Formed in 2023, n Industries focuses on acquisitions of high-quality, highly-specialised, niche SME businesses with strong management teams.
West Sussex-based Aquilar, which was founded more than 25 years ago, provides systems that detect water, fuel and refrigerant gas leaks. The company’s systems are used across settings including buildings and infrastructure, industrial facilities and data centres.
Commenting on the group’s most recent acquisition, n Industries Chief Executive Jonathan Bates-Kawachi said: "Aquilar has built an excellent reputation for providing reliable, high-quality leak detection systems that play an integral role in protecting critical facilities and commercial premises.”
He continued: "The strength of Aquilar's technology, its commitment to innovation, and the growth opportunities available in sectors such as data centres and energy infrastructure make Aquilar a natural fit within our group."
Aquilar Managing Director Julian Waumsley said that the partnership with n Industries recognised the expertise and reputation the firm has developed over the past 25 years and would provide the resources required to support further growth.
He added: "The group's long-term commitment to investing in quality British industrial businesses will enable us to further strengthen our product range, support our customers and partners, and seize new opportunities for growth."
Aquilar becomes the fourth business acquired by n Industries since its formation. The group is focused on acquiring firms with revenue ranging from £2 million to £15 million and has a management team including two former FTSE250 Chief Executives.
The group’s acquisitions have all been completed in 2025, with its portfolio including industrial friction material manufacturer Friction Technology, insulation product provider Termate and brake and clutch brand distributor Industrial Clutch Parts (ICP).
Following the acquisition of Aquilar, which was supported by M&A specialist GS Verde, Jonathan Bates-Kawachi said that n Industries will continue to grow through M&A activity.
