UK-based sauce and food ingredients manufacturer JDM Food Group has been acquired by US group Newly Weds Foods in a deal that strengthens the Chicago-based firm’s UK and European capabilities.
Founded more than 20 years ago, JDM Food Group specialises in sourcing, developing and manufacturing fresh and natural liquid products, which it supplies to customers in the foodservice and food processing industries.
The company operates from a manufacturing facility in Bicker, Lancashire that has recently undergone expansion. Since its founding, the firm has developed a strong reputation for product quality, high operating standards and disciplined manufacturing practices.
Newly Weds Foods supplies seasonings, sauces, coatings and batter to a global customer base of food manufacturers, foodservice operators and retailers. The acquisition of JDM Food Group significantly expands its liquid and sauce offerings in the UK and Europe.
Newly Weds operates from 18 manufacturing facilities in North America, with a further 13 plants covering the UK, Canada, China, Thailand, India, Australia, the Philippines, Poland and New Zealand, collectively supporting 80 international markets.
Brian Johnson, president and CEO of Newly Weds Foods, described the acquisition as a strong strategic fit, adding that JDM Food Group was “known for its strong growth, talented leadership, and commitment to culinary innovation and execution.”
JDM Food Group CEO Aisling Kemp said that the deal would bring opportunities for the firm’s team, customers and suppliers and added that it would enable both companies to accelerate growth across wet and dry flavours.
The acquisition by Newly Weds Foods comes after JDM Food Group reported significant growth in its most recent accounts. In filings for the year ending December 31 2024, the company reported turnover of around £73 million, up from £66.7 million a year earlier, while operating profits increased from around £1.9 million to approximately £3.4 million.
