Listed security group Croma Security Solutions Group has acquired access control business Added Security Technology (AST) in a deal worth £1.74 million.
Portsmouth-based AST, which was founded more than 30 years ago, is a specialist supplier and installer of access control systems, including key fobs, secure entrances and communal door entry and intercom systems.
In addition, the firm provides hearing-impaired living aids, such as hearing loops and flashing doorbells, as well as locksmith services.
The company has a longstanding contract with the local council that covers the installation of door entry systems and entrance doors across the council’s social housing programme, in addition to contracts with commercial clients and regional housing associations. The firm’s contract with the local council has recently been renewed for a further ten years.
In the 2024/25 financial year, AST generated revenue of £1.8 million, with adjusted EBITDA of £300,000.
Upon completion of the acquisition, AST directors Paul and Susan Sullivan, who have led the company since its founding in 1995, will retire from the business, which will now be led by their son James Sullivan. AST’s 23-strong team, who are all locally based, will join the group as part of the deal.
Roberto Fiorentino, Chief Executive of Croma Security Solutions Group, said: "We are delighted to announce the acquisition of AST, the largest acquisition in Croma's history since the disposal of Vigilant.”
"Having known the business for many years, we are confident that AST will be an excellent addition to the group. It has built an excellent reputation, underpinned by a loyal, long-standing customer base and recognised expertise in specialist security systems.”
"In addition to the operational and commercial synergies that this acquisition brings, we see significant opportunities to leverage AST's specialist technical capabilities across our network of security centres."
Outgoing AST director Paul Sullivan added: "Joining the Croma Group represents the right next step for the business and for our staff, giving them the backing of a larger group while keeping our local presence and approach that our customers value.”
