Maseco LLP, an independent financial advisor (IFA) based in London, has been acquired by US advice firm Creative Planning, subject to regulatory approval. The deal will add more than £3.75 billion in assets under management (AUM) to Creative Planning, along with a team of 123 staff.
Maseco, which was founded in 2008, provides cross-border wealth and investment management services, with a particular focus on American citizens and international families. The company serves more than 1,300 high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients.
In the year to March 31 2025, Maseco reported turnover of £23 million, up from approximately £19.1 million a year earlier, but saw operating profits dip from around £7.6 million to £6.9 million.
An agreement for Kansas-based Creative Planning to acquire Maseco was initially reported in December 2025. Creative Planning, which has approximately $700 billion in assets under management or advisement, is majority owned by CEO Peter Mallouk and has minority investments from private equity investors General Atlantic and TPG Capital.
The deal represents the US firm’s second international acquisition, following its takeover of Switzerland-based Baseline Wealth Management in January. The deal is set to boost the firm’s ability to provide cross-border wealth management services to international families.
Creative Planning President and CEO Peter Mallouk said that Maseco’s “planning-led approach, client-first culture and expertise in integrating U.S., UK and offshore financial solutions align perfectly with Creative Planning’s philosophy”.
In a joint statement, Josh Matthews and James Sellon, co-founders and managing partners of Maseco, added: “By combining Maseco’s cross-border expertise with Creative Planning’s scale, technology and global capabilities, we believe we can not only continue delivering the high level of service our clients expect but also raise the standard of advice and broaden the range of services available to U.S. citizens and international families living outside the United States.”
