AMS Group, an accounting and advisory group backed by Macquarie Capital, has acquired a tax specialist based in Sheffield. Established in 2021, NHD Tax Solutions specialises in tax-related disputes, investigations and enquiries.
The company, which supports clients through complex HMRC matters, is led by founder Nick Davies (pictured), alongside Sarah Scala and Rebecca Hunt.
Post-acquisition, the firm has said that its existing team will continue to work with clients, while benefitting from access to a broader pool of advisory, audit and transactional expertise.
In a statement, AMS Group said: "This marks another important step in the continued growth of AMS Group, further strengthening our specialist tax capabilities and broadening the support we offer to clients. We look forward to working together and building on this success."
According to AMS Group, NHD has “built an outstanding reputation in the UK tax disputes market”, saying that Nick Davies and the team have created a business defined by “a client-first culture, deep expertise in tax disputes, and trusted relationships built over years.”
The spokesperson added that Sheffield was a “strategic priority” for the group, and that the acquisition of NHD would provide “the ideal platform” for further growth.

In July 2025, the Manchester-headquartered group secured investment from Macquarie Capital to support its continued expansion through M&A, as well as ongoing investments in its people and technology.
