Two medical transport companies have been acquired out of administration in a pre-pack deal that saves more than 375 jobs and secures the ongoing supply of services to the NHS.
RSM UK has advised on the pre-pack sale of ambulance providers Spark Medical Limited and Medi 4 Ambulance Services Limited to an as-yet-unnamed buyer after the two companies fell into administration last month.
Spark Medical Limited is based in Bromborough, Wirral and provides independent ambulance services and event medical cover across the UK. The company operates up to 50 medical vehicles daily and employs 97 members of staff, in addition to a number of subcontractors.
Medi 4 Ambulance Services Limited, which has operational headquarters in Crawley, West Sussex, provides patient transport and pre-hospital care services throughout the south of the UK.
Spark Medical acquired Medi 4 Ambulance Services in August 2025. However, in recent times, the combined business has faced increasing cost commitments and ongoing capital expenditure, as well as reduced revenue, leading to significant pressures on cash flow.
This resulted in a creditors’ administration application being issued on January 19 2026. Lee Lockwood and James Miller of RSM UK Restructuring Advisory acted as proposed administrators to the businesses.
Following their appointment, the joint administrators were able to identify a potential buyer for the companies, with a pre-packaged sale successfully completed on February 6 2026.

In accounts for the year to March 31 2024, Spark Medical Limited’s fixed assets were valued at £2.2 million and current assets at £511,000, with net assets amounting to around £911,000.
In the year to April 30 2024, Medi Ambulance Services Limited’s fixed assets were valued at slightly over £34,000 and current assets at around £1.2 million, with total equity amounting to approximately £525,000.
