Ignite Growth has acquired Glasgow-based engineering firm APH Hydraulic Engineering Limited, in a deal supported by a multi-million-pound facility from Arbuthnot Commercial Asset Based Lending (ACABL).
The new facility consists of a confidential invoice discounting facility and cashflow loan and marks the third deal that ACABL has supported for Ignite. The funding will support APH Hydraulic Engineering’s transition to new ownership, as well as providing additional capacity for future growth.
Ignite Growth partner Andrew Leek said that ACABL had provided “a well-designed facility in a flexible, swift, and smooth manner”.
Founded in 1964, APH Hydraulic Engineering has been a family-owned business for more than 60 years. However, with the firm’s owners now wishing to retire, and a strong management team in place, the ACABL funding has facilitated the acquisition of the business, which will now target growth under Ignite's long-term investment strategy.
APH Hydraulic Engineering specialises in the design and manufacture of hydraulic cylinders and actuators used in critical applications across sectors including defence, subsea and broader industrial markets.
The company’s customer base spans civil engineering, nuclear, defence and railway businesses engaged in projects including wind turbines, tidal energy, deep-sea cable laying, bridge lifting, mine clearing, ship stabilisers and fire trucks.
Andrew Leek commented: "We believe businesses like APH play a vital role in supporting sovereign capability and strengthening the UK’s industrial base, and we’re excited to be supporting the team in delivering on that potential."
Joe Taviner, director, business development, at Arbuthnot Commercial Asset Based Lending Limited, added: "We are delighted to have delivered a third facility for Ignite and to be continuing to support them in the development of their impressive portfolio of leading UK businesses.”
"Like Ignite, we value long-term business relationships and work hard to leave no stone unturned in delivering the right solution every time."
