Darlington-based property management firm My Property Box has acquired Ashington lettings firm Clarke Holland for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition is My Property Box’s 16th in seven years and sees Clarke Holland’s portfolio of rental properties transferred over.
The acquisition of Clarke Holland, which offers sales, lettings and rental services in the local area, came after the target company’s owner, Paul Baldry, opted to sell the firm in order to focus on his own property portfolio and pursue other interests.
The deal was supported by a multimillion-pound investment from BGF, which My Property Box secured in July 2024 to accelerate its buy-and-build growth strategy. The company is continuing to expand across the North East and North Yorkshire, where it has offices in Newcastle, Darlington and Northallerton.
The acquisition of Clarke Holland follows a number of My Property Box’s recent takeovers, which include County Durham firm Ready to Rent and Seaham-based Newton Assets.

The acquisition was announced alongside the appointment of Will Maddock as the company’s new Chief Finance Officer. Maddock joins the firm from Operam Education Group in a newly-created role that brings the company’s financial function in-house for the first time.
My Property Box’s buy-and-build strategy comes amid a wider trend for consolidation in the UK’s estate agency sector, which is being driven by financial pressures on smaller operators, a booming lettings market, fragmentation and growing investment from private equity firms and overseas buyers.
