A North Lanarkshire-headquartered provider of building maintenance, refurbishment and improvement services has been acquired by social housing maintenance firm Cardo Group. The acquisition of Trident Maintenance Services strengthens Cardo Group’s geographic presence and technical expertise.
Headquartered in Bellshill and with offices across England, Trident Maintenance Services employs a team of 124 staff. The company delivers planned maintenance, refurbishment and improvement services to a diverse client base across the social housing, education, healthcare, custodial and commercial sectors.
In the year ending March 30 2025, Trident Maintenance Services Limited reported turnover of £18.4 million, up from £11.7 million a year earlier, while more than doubling its operating profits from around £731,000 to over £1.6 million.
Directors said in the accounts that the business had “gone from strength to strength” and was continuing to grow in accordance with its development plans, attributing its strong performance to its relationships with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.
Trident Maintenance Services Managing Director Kenny Robson said that the business, which is employee-owned, had been built on the principle of investing in motivated and incentivised staff to deliver results.
Robson said that joining Cardo Group would provide the business with the scale and backing to drive sustainable growth, while expanding its capabilities across key market sectors including housing, healthcare and education.
He added that the deal would also enable Trident to continue investing in its staff, while preserving the company’s culture, values and standards.
The acquisition is said to strengthen Cardiff-based Cardo Group’s national footprint and enhance the group’s regional capacity across Scotland and England, while broadening its technical expertise.

Cardo Group employs around 1,400 staff and operates across the UK and Ireland, providing building maintenance and improvement services to social housing providers and the public sector. In the year to February 28 2025, the group reported turnover of £145.2 million, up from £83.6 million a year earlier, while operating profit increased sharply from £1.7 million to £6.3 million.
The group’s growth over recent years has been supported by an active acquisition programme that has seen it move for businesses including Paisley-based roofing firm Faskin Group and heat solutions provider Heatcare Oil and Gas.
