Stockport-based infrastructure engineering firm OCU Group has bolstered its growing presence in Australia and New Zealand with the acquisition of Volta Energy Group.
Volta Energy Group, which has offices in Melbourne and Sydney, is an energy advisory, design, project delivery and high-voltage commissioning business. The company specialises in the development and delivery of major energy infrastructure projects.
The company has built a strong reputation for supporting large-scale projects across renewable energy, energy infrastructure, transmission and data centres, providing technical expertise, practical delivery experience and commercial insight.
Volta’s status as an approved contractor in the state of Victoria also enables the company to work on regulated electricity networks.
The acquisition of Volta adds upstream grid connection, power systems studies and early-stage advisory capability to OCU Group’s Australian operations, improving the group's pipeline visibility, grid constraints and project origination.
Sheldon Upton, Chief Executive of OCU Group (ANZ), said: "Volta adds an important capability to our growing Australia & New Zealand operations.”
"The team brings deep expertise in energy project development, commercial advisory and project delivery, complementing the construction and engineering capabilities already established within OCU. Together, we are creating a stronger proposition for clients seeking support across the entire infrastructure lifecycle.”
Volta Energy Group Managing Director Ryan McKenzie said: "Joining OCU Group gives us access to a broader international platform while allowing us to continue supporting clients with the same specialist expertise and collaborative approach that has underpinned our growth."
OCU Group, which has been owned by European private equity firm Triton Partners since 2022, provides infrastructure engineering services across markets including energy, utilities and digital.
In accounts for the year to April 30 2025, OCU Group Limited reported turnover of around £886.5 million, up from £610.6 million a year earlier, while operating profits increased from £47.6 million to £64.2 million.
