A pair of Burton-on-Trent businesses that formed part of a major machinery supplier have been acquired out of administration, following the collapse of the wider group earlier this month.
Altegra Integrated Solutions Limited and Altegra Access and Security Systems Limited were both subsidiaries of Dunstall Holdings, a Midlands-based supplier of agricultural and industrial machinery which fell into administration alongside fellow subsidiary Rea Valley Tractors on September 10.
The collapse of the firm was attributed to challenging trading conditions and rising cost pressures and came in the wake of a failed sale process. 149 staff were made redundant upon the collapse of Dunstall Holdings and Rea Valley Tractors.
Altegra Integrated Solutions Limited and Altegra Access and Security Systems Limited, which operated from Lopen Head Business Park in Somerset, were primarily engaged in supplying materials handling equipment and access control systems.
The firms were placed into administration a few days after the connected companies, with the same joint administrators, Tim Higgins, Edward Williams, and Jane Steer of PwC, appointed to the two businesses.
Upon their appointment, the joint administrators completed a sale of Altegra Integrated Solutions to Jofson North, alongside a separate deal that saw Altegra Access & Security Systems acquired by Dorwingear.â¯
Tim Higgins, joint administrator, commented:â¯â¯"We're pleased to have been able to secure the deals for the companies, which represented the best option in difficult circumstances to generate returns for creditors and safeguards the jobs of 88 employees.”
In accounts for the period from October 30 2022 to December 31 2023, Altegra Integrated Solutions reported turnover of £21.5 million, compared to £20.2 million in its previous accounts, but fell from an operating profit of over £553,000 to a loss of around £183,000.
At the time, its fixed assets were valued at £6 million and current assets at around £5.9 million, with total equity amounting to £4 million.
