Thu, 04 Dec 2025 | BUSINESS SALE
A patient transport company based in Nottingham has been acquired out of administration in a pre-pack deal. The sale safeguards a “significant number of roles” at F4 Control, trading as first4care, but some job losses were said to be unavoidable.
The company fell into administration on November 27 2025, with Louise Williams and Luke Brough of Opus Restructuring & Insolvency in Nottingham appointed as joint administrators. Upon their appointment, the joint administrators secured a pre-packaged sale of the business and certain assets to Human Touch Ambulance Limited.
The joint administrators said that the pre-pack sale was intended "to protect continuity of patient transport services and preserve as many jobs as possible", adding that the deal "secures ongoing service provision and delivers a better overall return for creditors".
First4care had relied on a major patient transport contract with a large, regional NHS ambulance service for much of its business. However, budget pressures led to the decision to reduce the scope of this contract, leaving the company facing "significant cashflow difficulties and growing liabilities".
The company’s remaining NHS contracts were said to be insufficient to sustain its ongoing operations, resulting in the firm moving to appoint administrators and ultimately target a pre-pack sale.
Following the completion of the sale, the joint administrators have said that they will now focus on realising the company’s remaining assets and distributing the proceeds to creditors in accordance with statutory requirements.
In accounts for the year to January 31 2025, F4Control Limited’s fixed assets were valued at around £411,000 and current assets at approximately £4.1 million. The company’s net assets at the time amounted to around £255,000 and the average number of employees during the year was 167, down from 185 in 2024.
