Ranger Fire and Security, a fire and security business backed by Hyperion Equity Partners, has completed its 15th acquisition since its launch in early 2024 with a deal for a Yorkshire-based counterpart.
The acquisition of Huddersfield-based Centurion Fire & Security is Ranger’s second of 2026 so far and provides the firm with a presence in Yorkshire. Paul Mahon, partner at Hyperion Equity Partners, said that Ranger was continuing to expand across the UK and that the acquisition of Centurion would enable it to better serve customers across Yorkshire.
He continued: "Businesses under the Ranger umbrella have all already established a strong reputation for customer-orientated, high-quality service offerings and this latest acquisition is no exception.”
Centurion was established in 1974 and provides services ranging from commercial CCTV installations, including 24/7 monitoring and AI-operated systems, to BAFE-registered fire alarms, featuring early warning systems, intruder alarms and access control.
Joining the Ranger Group will enable Centurion to benefit from additional business support from the group’s leadership team, as well as being able to collaborate with its growing network of industry leaders across the North of England.
Other group companies across the North include IPH Fire Solutions, Syncro Group and McGoff & Vickers Fire and Security Systems.
Post-acquisition, Centurion founder David Armstrong will continue to serve the business in a consultancy capacity while transitioning towards retirement. General Manager Nathan Douglas-Smith has been promoted to Managing Director and will remain with the business alongside the rest of its leadership team.
Hyperion’s Paul Mahon said that Centurion was made up of “well-rounded experts of the fire and security sector” and said the firm would be a strong addition to Ranger as the group “continues to build up its reach and expertise across the UK, Ireland and beyond."
