Acquisan, a private equity-backed critical site equipment hire and servicing business, has acquired Liberty Guard (UK) Limited, a family-owned counterpart headquartered in Sandtoft, near Doncaster.
The deal is described as marking a significant milestone for Acquisan, which was incorporated last year, and follows its first acquisition of Welfare Unit Hire, announced earlier this year.
Acquisan, which is backed by private equity firm Westbrooke Equity Partners, is seeking to build a UK network of welfare and sanitation services. Following the acquisition, Liberty Guard founder Gordon Jones confirmed that the family would reinvest and retain a stake in the business.
Liberty Guard supplies towable and status welfare units, operating from a network of more than a dozen depots. The company has over 40 years of experience in supplying modular and portable accommodation.
Acquisan founder and Managing Director Julian Pienaar said: “Liberty Guard's strong brand, national footprint, and eco-innovative product range perfectly aligns with our vision. Together, we will be able to deliver best-in-class solutions to major infrastructure and construction projects across the country."
Rob Grieve, head of Westbrooke UK Private Equity, commented: "We are pleased to support the acquisition of Liberty Guard alongside Acquisan. This investment aligns with our strategy of building platform investments and backing high-quality, growth-oriented businesses alongside experienced partners and ambitious management teams.”
"Liberty Guard has built a market-leading plaÆorm with a strong brand and a highly capable leadership team. We look forward to collaborating with the management team, founding shareholders and Acquisan in this next chapter of growth."
In accounts for the year to June 30 2024, Liberty Guard (UK) Limited reported turnover of £11.8 million, up slightly from around £11.7 million the previous year, while its operating profits dipped from £2.7 million to £2.6 million.
