Acquisitive financial planning firm Perspective Financial Group has expanded into Scotland for the first time with a deal for Glasgow-based Phoenix Wealth Solutions. According to Perspective, the acquisition establishes a strong strategic platform for its future growth in Scotland.
Based in Johnstone, Glasgow, Phoenix Wealth Solutions has been providing independent financial advice to individuals and businesses since 2001, led by financial planners Colin Macdonald, Steven Fraser and Josh Kinning.
Post-acquisition, Macdonald, Fraser and Kinning will remain with the business, which will continue to operate with its existing team, while changing its name to Perspective (Scotland) and gaining access to the wider group’s resources, specialist expertise, technology and long-term succession support.
Phoenix Director Colin Macdonald said: "After more than 25 years of building Phoenix Wealth Solutions, finding the right long-term home for our clients and staff was our priority. Perspective’s client-focused approach, commitment to retaining our team and our Johnstone office, together with their experience of acquisitions, gave us confidence they were the right fit."
Ian Wilkinson, Chief Executive Officer of Perspective Financial Group, said: “This transaction represents a landmark moment for the Group as our first acquisition in Scotland and reflects our ambition to partner with high-quality advice businesses that share our values and commitment to delivering exceptional client outcomes.”
“Phoenix has built an outstanding reputation for trusted advice and longstanding client relationships. We look forward to supporting the next phase of the firm’s growth while preserving the culture, expertise and client-first approach that have made the business so successful.”
Wilkinson said that Perspective had taken time to find the right partner in Scotland, describing Phoenix as “an excellent fit” and saying the deal would create a strong foundation for future growth as the group anticipates further acquisitions in Scotland over the coming months.
Perspective Financial Group, a national firm of whole of market financial advisers, has acquired more than 130 businesses since 2008, including 20 last year and 29 in 2024. During the first quarter of 2026, the group announced the acquisitions of an additional six financial planning firms as part of its ongoing expansion drive.
The value of M&A activity in the UK wealth management sector is surging, despite a decline in deal volume, as buyers increasingly target scale and market reach
A reputable Staffordshire solicitors’ firm is on the market for acquisition as the partners plan for retirement.
The company is a RICS-registered consultancy, with RICS and RTPI members providing specialist, expert-led advice for planning, surveying, estate management and due diligence in the UK and ROI.
This is a unique opportunity to acquire the intellectual property assets of a reputable financial advisory services company, established for over a decade.
