Testing, inspections, certification and compliance (TICC) firm Phenna Group has continued to expand through international M&A with the acquisition of a Spanish company. The acquisition of AUCATEL-EIC represents Phenna Group’s 10th deal of the year so far.
Founded in 2009, AUCATEL-EIC has a nationwide presence in Spain, with headquarters in Barcelona and Madrid. The company specialises in inspection, certification and compliance services, primarily in the urban and environmental sectors.
The firm will join Phenna Group's Built Environment Division within the EMEA region.
Post-acquisition, AUCATEL-EIC will continue to be led by its experienced founding management team, Vicente Castillo and Iván Fernández de Retana. According to Castillo, the company chose Phenna as the group’s model “respects our operational autonomy and our entrepreneurial DNA.”
He continued: "With their support, we are exceptionally well-positioned to execute strategic investments, expand our technical capabilities, and consolidate our leadership in the Spanish market without losing the essence of what has driven our success."
Fernández de Retana added that joining Phenna would enable the firm to scale its capabilities, while offering “an even more robust lifecycle of regulatory compliance services across the country."
Phenna Group Chief Executive Phil Marshall described the deal as “a highly strategic acquisition” for the group and one that establishes “a leading position in the regulated urban, industrial, environmental, and product inspection and certification market in Spain.”
He added: "Vicente, Iván, and their teams bring an excellent reputation for quality and deep technical expertise. This aligns perfectly with our strategy and supports our continued ambitious growth across the region."
