Derwent Packaging Limited, a Derbyshire-based point-of-sale display manufacturer, has been acquired out of administration. As well as securing the future of the business, the sale to Bradford-based Mailway Displays safeguards more than 30 jobs.
Derwent Packaging, which trades as Derwent Displays, fell into administration on July 8 2026, with Ben Fallon and Louise Longley of BTG Begbies Traynor appointed as joint administrators.
The following day, a sale of the company to Mailway Displays, part of the Mailway Packaging Group, was completed, securing the jobs of all 33 employees. Following the acquisition, the business will now trade as Mailway Displays, while continuing to operate from its manufacturing facility in Denby, near Belper.
Derwent Displays was founded as a family-run business in 1994, before being bought out in 2023 by its management team. The company designs, manufactures and fulfils temporary POS displays, bespoke retail packaging and fulfilment for brands, marketing agencies and print management companies across the UK.
The entire production process is managed by the business in-house, with capabilities spanning from design and manufacture through to fulfilment.
Despite its longstanding position in the industry, the company had suffered with cashflow pressures. Prior to the appointment of administrators, an accelerated sale process was launched in an effort to secure investment or a sale of the business.
Joint administrator Ben Fallon said: "We are really pleased to have secured this sale, protecting the jobs of the entire team, delivering value for the creditors, and enabling this long-established Derbyshire manufacturer to continue trading under new ownership.”
"The business has developed an excellent reputation within the retail display and packaging sector over more than 30 years and this ensures the future for a highly skilled East Midlands manufacturing business and an important local employer."
Fellow joint administrator Louise Longley added: "This is an excellent outcome following an accelerated sales process, ensuring the business can continue operating from its Denby site with its experienced workforce in place.”
"We would like to thank the employees, customers, suppliers and professional advisers for their support throughout, enabling a smooth transition to the new owners and providing a strong platform for the business's future."
