Delifresh, a premium provider of whole and prepared fruit and vegetables and chilled products, has been acquired by Ireland-based food retail, wholesale, and foodservice company Musgrave.
Bradford-headquartered Delifresh, which was founded in 2002 and has operations across England, works with customers ranging from higher education facilities and stadiums to the wider hospitality industry and Michelin-starred restaurants.
In Delifresh Limited’s most recent accounts, for the year ending May 31 2024, the company reported turnover of £64.1 million, up from around £56.8 million a year earlier, but saw its operating profits dip from £1.1 million to slightly over £764,000.
The deal further strengthens Musgrave’s position in Great Britain’s premium foodservice sector. The addition of Delifresh builds on Musgrave’s previous acquisitions of Ritter Courivaud, Town & Country Fine Foods and Italicatessen UK, businesses supplying premium ingredients to the UK’s chefs, restaurants and hospitality businesses.
Stuart Campbell, Managing Director for Musgrave Group in Great Britain, commented: "By bringing Delifresh into the Musgrave Group, we are adding a strong player in the fresh, chilled, and speciality products space to our portfolio.”
“This acquisition aligns with our intent to capture more market share in the premium and high-quality food sectors, as we continue to enhance our product range and geographical reach to meet growing customer demand.”
"I look forward to working with the leadership team at Delifresh to explore ways for the business to grow while continuing to provide their existing customers with the excellent customer service and quality products they are accustomed to."
