Newcastle-based property services company LSL has acquired Huddersfield-based property search provider National Search Service (NSS) through its LSL Estate Agency Franchising division in what is described as a “small bolt-on” deal.
The acquisition is expected to complement LSL’s existing conveyancing offering, provided through its Homefast division, while further strengthening the group's position as an estate agency franchisor.
Founded in 2004, NSS is a family-owned provider of property search services to the legal sector, operating both directly and through a franchising model. The firm has developed a strong reputation as a trusted provider, being described as a valued partner to numerous leading UK law firms and estate agents.
The company is regulated by the Property Codes Compliance Board (PCCB) and subscribes to the Search Code, ensuring the highest standards of compliance and service.
Following the acquisition, the Huddersfield-based NSS business will transfer to LSL in its entirety. The company’s founders will remain with the business post-acquisition to aid a smooth transition, while there will be no operational changes, ensuring service continuity for NSS customers.

In the year ending December 31 2024, LSL Property Services plc reported turnover of close to £173.2 million, up from £144.4 million the previous year, while pre-tax profits rose from around £4.9 million to slightly over £23 million. The group’s total equity at the time stood at approximately £81.9 million, compared to £75.9 million a year earlier.
