A Lancashire-headquartered rail repair and overhaul business has been acquired by Amcomri Group, a listed firm focused on acquiring and developing UK-based industrial SMEs, in a deal worth up to £4 million.
Leyland-based North West Transport Supplies Ltd, trading as NTS Ltd Leyland, specialises in the repair and overhaul of often high-integrity, safety-critical electro-mechanical units, HVAC and pneumatic control equipment on rail rolling stock fleets.
The company is focused on the UK rail sector, with a customer base that spans original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), specialist maintenance and supply chain providers and rolling stock owners and operators.
The business has been described as having been consistently profitable over recent years, generating positive cash flow and with repeat revenue characteristics across a high-quality customer base.
The acquisition includes an initial cash consideration of £3 million, with the remaining balance of up to £1 million to be paid on a deferred basis. The firm is being acquired on a cash free/debt free basis.
Amcomri Group Chief Operating Officer Mark O’Neill commented: "We have a strong track record of acquiring and enhancing technically specialist repair and overhaul businesses, as demonstrated by our previous acquisitions of TP Matrix, eTrac and most recently Electronix in July 2025.”
"NTS is an excellent addition to our growing group of specialist repair and overhaul businesses, and several synergistic and organic growth opportunities have already been identified by the Amcomri team.”
O’Neill added that the acquisition of NTS further strengthens the group’s “ambitious, focused organic and acquisitive growth strategy, as we continue to roll out our proven 'Buy, Improve, Build' model”.
Amcomri Group was established in 2016 to acquire specialist engineering and manufacturing SMEs, with a particular focus on acquisitions arising from owner-manager retirements.
The listed group aims to acquire proven businesses that meet its specific investment criteria: turnover typically within the £2.5 million - £15 million range; EBITDA typically between £0.5 million - £3 million; a stable track record of positive cash generation; low customer concentrations or critical supplier dependencies; embedded engineering businesses with a specialist technical capacity and long-term customers; specialist B2B manufacturers with a strong and proven competitive position in their markets; alignment of vendor objectives with the group’s own culture and principles.
Putting cultural alignment at the heart of acquisitions is integral to ensuring successful post-deal integration
This business specialises in creating bespoke automated production systems, offering a comprehensive in-house engineering service from design to installation.
