Private equity-backed Ranger Fire and Security has continued its M&A-driven expansion with two acquisitions. The London-based group, which is backed by Inflexion and Hyperion Equity Partners, has acquired Cirencester-based CIA Fire and Security Limited and Kendal-based AKD Fire and Security Limited for undisclosed sums.
CIA Fire and Security serves customers across the South, as well as operating on a national level. Post-acquisition, the company’s 80-plus team will remain with the business as it becomes part of the wider Ranger Group, helping to maintain its strong management as it seeks to drive growth.
AKD Fire and Security provides services across fire alarms, security and access control, with a strong focus on recurring services, maintenance, reactive call-outs and remedials. The company’s customer base is diverse, spanning the commercial, hospitality, public and residential property sectors.
The addition of AKD strengthens Ranger’s North West footprint, providing a connection between North West hub Syncro and Scottish hub Secureshield.

Ranger’s latest acquisitions come less than a month after the company secured a majority private equity investment from Inflexion to accelerate its M&A strategy. Shortly after the investment was announced, the company expanded in the UK and Ireland with the acquisitions of South of England firm Scion Communications and Cork-based Emerald Fire Technology.
With the subsequent additions of CIA and AKD, the group takes its total number of businesses to 25, with total staff headcount across its operations now exceeding 500.
Through its M&A strategy, Ranger is seeking to add high-quality local businesses to build a platform with a national scope, delivering best-in-class fire and security services across the UK and Ireland.
