Today Team, a same-day courier specialist based in Risley, has acquired a Yorkshire-based counterpart as part of its growth plans. The acquisition of Elite Logistics in an asset-based deal is the company’s second in recent years, following its 2023 acquisition of Speedy Courier Services.
The acquisition represents the latest step in Today Team’s growth strategy, with the company targeting turnover of £5 million by 2028. Following the acquisition, company founder and Managing Director Jamie Boyd has said that the business will continue to target further deals.
Boyd stated that the experience gained from the acquisition of Speedy Courier Services gave the firm the confidence to proceed with a deal for Elite Logistics, which he described as “a fantastic business founded by two young entrepreneurs who have pivoted into the fitness industry.”
Today Team described the acquisition as a “key step” in its growth roadmap, adding that the deal not only enhanced its operational footprint and client base, but also strengthened its strategic positioning. Elite Logistics has already reportedly been integrated into Today Team’s operations, with Jamie Boyd taking direct responsibility for overseeing the process as the company seeks to ensure a smooth transition.
Operating from Barnsley, South Yorkshire, Elite Logistics provides same-day courier services to both businesses and private customers. The firm was founded 10 years ago by Tim Beswick and Martin Lever, who built it into a nationwide operation with more than 5,000 vehicles across the UK.
The sale to Today Team comes as Beswick and Lever exit the courier industry, with Beswick saying that they aimed to ensure that the deal left customers in safe hands.
He said that the pair were “looking for a seamless handover – a buyer with the experience and infrastructure to deliver the same reliability we have built our reputation on”, adding that Today Team was “the perfect fit.”
