Banyan Software, an acquirer and operator of software businesses, has acquired materials requirements planning (MRP) firm Javelin. Post-acquisition, the firm will join Berkeley Myles Solutions, Banyan’s existing Glasgow-based platform in the UK manufacturing software industry.
Javelin serves small and medium-sized industrial and manufacturing businesses. Developed within Hexagon AB, Javelin is an MRP software solution that supports production planning, inventory management, and operational control, helping SMEs in the manufacturing and industrial markets to manage complex manufacturing processes with accuracy and reliability.
Banyan worked with Hexagon AB as the group evolved its strategic focus, helping it to establish a path forward prioritising long-term continuity, investment and support for its customers.
The deal will see members of the Javelin team, including those providing day-to-day support to customers, transition with the business, as part of an effort to ensure ongoing expertise and quality of service.
The strategic aim is for Javelin customers to continue using the platform as normal, but with an increased focus on driving investment and ongoing development over time.
Claire Rollins, portfolio leader at Banyan Software, commented: “Our focus from the outset was on ensuring ongoing support and stability for the teams and manufacturers who rely on this platform.”
"Javelin plays a critical role in its customers’ operations, and we saw an opportunity to provide a long-term home for both the product and its users. Bringing it into Berkeley Myles allows us to build on an existing foundation in the UK manufacturing sector while expanding our capabilities through the Javelin feature set.”
Tony MacBride, Chief Executive of Berkeley Myles Solutions, said that Javelin was “a natural fit alongside our platform.”
He continued: "Both businesses share a deep understanding of UK manufacturing workflows and a commitment to supporting customers over the long term. Our priority is to ensure a smooth transition and maintain the trust customers place in the software every day.”
