Three established gyms in South Wales have been brought under new ownership in a multi-site acquisition covering sites in Llanelli, Trimsaran and Burry Port. The transaction, which was valued at over £500,000, represents the launch of The Hyve Gym brand, under the leadership of Ioan Jones.
Funding for the deal was provided by the Development Bank of Wales, with financial arrangements overseen by Sally Phillips. All of the sites remain fully operational following the transaction, with no disruption to memberships, staff or services. Work on the deal began on June 1 and was completed by July 22 2025.
A team from Peter Lynn and Partners comprising Greg George, James Lewis Hyndman and Rob Cherry led the deal negotiations for Ioan Jones. Negotiations involved lease assignments, staff transfer under TUPE regulations and the protection of existing memberships.
Hyve Gym combines modern strength equipment and functional fitness zones with a wide array of classes, including conditioning, group training, strength circuits and indoor cycling. Each location will offer extended opening hours, accessible layouts and a timetable of sessions designed to cater to both beginners and committed users.
James Lewis Hyndman from Peter Lynn and Partners commented: "This was a significant deal with a tight timeline. Clear communication between all parties helped us complete the transaction efficiently. We made sure member contracts and staff arrangements remained fully protected throughout the process."
Partner Greg George, who handled the lease assignments for each of the sites, stressed the importance of in-depth preparation. George said that, with each gym operating from a separate leased premises, three assignments had to be completed, along with the funding drawdown.
He added: “We prepared everything in advance so the transition to the new owner could happen smoothly and without any interruption to trading."
New owner Ioan Jones said: "Buying three gyms at once was a major step, and I wanted a legal team who could guide me through every stage. I am excited to grow The Hyve Gym and continue offering a high-quality fitness experience to members across Carmarthenshire."
