Bristan Group, one of the UK’s largest suppliers of taps and showers, has been acquired by Swedish-headquartered group FM Mattsson. The deal significantly strengthens FM Mattsson Group’s international presence and brand portfolio and complements Aqualla, the group’s existing UK and Ireland business.
Bristan employs around 280 people and generates turnover of more than £60 million. The company serves professional customers, including installers, specifiers, DIY retailers, online retailers and wholesale channel partners.
Fredrik Skarp, Chief Executive of FM Mattsson Group, said: "The acquisition of Bristan is a major step in line with our strategy to strengthen FM Mattsson Group's international presence through strong brands.”
"Bristan is established as the number one brassware supplier in the UK and is known for its high level of customer service and broad product offering, particularly for the professional market. As the largest brassware supplier in the UK, Bristan gives us a significantly stronger platform in one of Europe's largest markets for bathroom and kitchen mixers.”
Skarp added that, along with Aqualla, Bristan would provide a stronger platform for the group’s long-term profitable growth in the UK, saying that the two businesses combine “complementary strengths across retail, professional and commercial project channels."
Bristan's Chief Executive Jen Cassidy described Mattsson Group as “an organisation whose values and ethos align so closely with our own”, adding: "We look forward to continuing to drive through our strategy focusing on our new product roadmap, demand generation and strategic supplier partnerships development with the support of our new parent company."
Upon completion of the deal, Bristan will become part of FM Mattsson Group, while continuing to operate as a brand-led business under its own management team.
DSW partner Harry Walker, who led a corporate finance team that advised FM Mattsson on the deal, commented: "It is rare that we get to work with true market leaders, so it has been a privilege to help bring together the leading brassware supplier across the Nordics and the market leader in the UK.“
"The cultural and commercial fit between FM Mattsson Group and Bristan was clear from early in the process, and we are delighted to have supported delivery of this nationally significant transaction within the KBB industry.”
