The Pace Group has strengthened its national footprint with the acquisition of two lift maintenance businesses, marking the company’s tenth deal since securing investment from private equity partner LDC.
The West Midlands-based group, which specialises in the maintenance, repair and modernisation of passenger lifts, service lifts and stairlifts, has acquired Exel Elevator in the North East and The Lift Company & DJ Lifts in Kent. The double deal significantly increases the group’s regional coverage and brings additional technical expertise into the business.
Following the latest acquisitions, The Pace Group now services around 13,000 lift units on behalf of roughly 5,000 customers across the UK. The enlarged operational base is expected to support the group’s continued expansion into new regions and further consolidation of the fragmented lift maintenance market.
Scott Haywood, Director at The Pace Group, said the two businesses were an excellent strategic fit, each bringing strong reputations and experienced teams with a focus on high-quality service delivery. He added that the acquisitions support the group’s long-term plan to build a nationwide lift services provider with comprehensive coverage and robust technical capability.
LDC, which took a minority stake in the business in mid-2024, has backed the company’s ambitious buy-and-build programme. Since the investment, The Pace Group has added several complementary businesses, including Metro Lifts, Elevator Group, Abacus Elevators, Total Lift Care and Bourne Lifts, alongside the latest purchases.
The firm’s acquisition strategy has centred on identifying well-established regional operators that can strengthen the group’s customer base, improve service density and enhance operational efficiency. Advisors on the latest deal said the rapid sequence of acquisitions reflects the strength of the group’s leadership team and its clear vision for scaling a national platform.
Both newly acquired companies will be integrated into the wider group, with their teams continuing to support customers as part of the expanding Pace network.
