Hill & Smith, a UK listed manufacturing giant, has completed the acquisition of a US business in a deal worth around £27 million. The group has acquired Freeberg Industrial Fabrication Corp as it seeks to expand its infrastructure-focused engineered solutions offering.
Based in Escondido, California, Freeberg Industrial Fabrication Corp designs and manufactures engineered products including custom enclosures, serving infrastructure markets such as the data centre and power generation sector.
In the year to December 31 2025, Freeberg Industrial Fabrication Corp reported unaudited revenue of $31.7 million and adjusted EBIT of $5.3 million.
The company is currently in the process of expanding its footprint, as it constructs a new factory at a 160,000 sq ft leased facility in Arizona. This site, which is set to become operational in the second half of this year, is specifically designed for the assembly of large-scale electro-mechanical systems, including genset packages.
The deal, which was initially announced last month, is expected to boost Hill & Smith’s industrial footprint in North America, while deepening its role as a key supplier to markets including energy, construction and transportation.
The acquisitive UK group’s latest bolt-on deal reflects its strategy of expanding its capabilities and footprint across key infrastructure and industrial markets.
Hill & Smith is a manufacturer of engineering solutions designed to enhance the resilience of critical infrastructure and the built environment. The group employs approximately 4,500 staff across its operations in the UK, US and India.
The group is organised into the US Engineered Solutions, UK & India Engineered Solutions and Galvanizing Services divisions.
