Fulfilmentcrowd, a Lancashire-based, tech-led global fulfilment provider backed by private equity firm Palatine, has expanded with the acquisition of a Dutch ecommerce logistics specialist.
The firm’s acquisition of Fulfilment.nl accelerates its expansion into the EU’s fast-growing omnichannel ecommerce industry. The deal means the combined business now spans seven EU fulfilment centres, significantly expanding its capacity and operational efficiency.
According to the group, the deal will strengthen its ability to address scaled-up cross-border ecommerce demand, with the entry into the Netherlands providing access to one of Europe’s most important logistics hubs.
Through the combination of fulfimentcrowd’s technology platform and international network with Fulfilment.nl’s local expertise, the group is seeking to support ecommerce brands looking to grow in the Netherlands and across the EU.
The deal is expected to enhance the enlarged group’s margins through cost synergies, economies of scale and shared technology, with Fulfilment.nl bringing a strong financial profile, driven by consistent volume growth and longstanding customer relationships.
Lee Thompson, CEO of fulfilmentcrowd, said: “We are delighted to welcome [Fulfilment.nl founder] Robin Gerrits and his team to the group. The Netherlands is a strategically compelling market for eCommerce and a gateway to the EU.”
“Fulfilment.nl is a high-quality business with strong growth momentum and a customer first culture that aligns perfectly with our own. This acquisition accelerates our European expansion while enhancing margins through scale, technology and operational synergies.”
Palatine partner Tom Wildig described the deal as “a natural next step for fulfilmentcrowd as it continues to build a differentiated, technology-led fulfilment platform with European scale.”
Wildig continued: “The Netherlands is a critical market for any business serious about EU ecommerce, and Fulfilment.nl is exactly the kind of established, high-quality operator that accelerates that ambition. We have been hugely impressed by Lee and the team’s execution to date, and we are excited to support this next phase of international growth.”
The acquisition reflects fulfilmentcrowd’s strategy of achieving growth through targeted investments in high-performing companies.
In the year to March 31 2025, fulfilmentcrowd Limited reported turnover of £14.2 million, up from around £13.7 million a year earlier, while operating profit increased from approximately £913,000 to £1.5 million.
