Simunix, a data intelligence business based in York, has been acquired by international group Banyan Software, adding the firm to a portfolio of more than 100 companies spanning the UK, Europe, North and South America and the Asia Pacific region.
Simunix serves public and private sector organisations, providing business and people searches, ID verification and data software. Its flagship platforms, including T2A and ORBIS, are used by organisations including the UK police, as well as logistics, financial services and compliance providers, for ID verification and geo-location.
Simunix founder John Lewis said: "Simunix has spent more than two decades building systems that public and private sector customers rely on every day to support their business operations.”
"As I looked ahead to the next chapter, finding a partner who would recognise what we've built and invest in its continued development was the most important decision I could make.”
Banyan, which was founded in 2016, operates with a “buy, grow and hold-for-life” model, providing founders with a permanent home for their businesses.
John Lewis said that the group stood out for its “long-term mindset”, respect for Simunix’s team and core values and its “genuine commitment to the business and the customers we serve."
Azets Corporate Finance partner Nick Barker, who led a team acting as lead financial advisers to Simunix shareholders on the deal, said: "Simunix has developed an exceptional reputation in advanced software for identity search and verification and, in Banyan, has a new owner who has a proven track record of taking the businesses in its international portfolio to the next level.”
