An IT and telecommunications firm based in Yorkshire has acquired a South Wales-based IT security services specialist. Northern Telecom’s acquisition of specialist Zero-Trust IT and cybersecurity business C-STEM is its third of the year.
Newport-based C-STEM specialises in Zero Trust architecture and managed IT services, helping businesses to reduce operational and commercial risks, maximise value and avoid lost productivity time.
The acquisition, Northern Telecom’s 23rd to date, furthers its investment in Wales, following its acquisition of Dyfed Telecom earlier this year. Northern Telecom Group CEO and founder Jon Graves said that the acquisition of C-STEM provides “new capability and markets which will unlock further growth potential in the business.”
Legal support on the transaction was provided by North East law firm Mincoffs Solicitors, who have worked with Northern Telecom on acquisitions for a number of years. Jon Graves described Mincoffs as “instrumental in our acquisition strategy and [...] critical to the growth of our business."
Chris Hughes, partner in Mincoffs Solicitors’ corporate team, described the deal as another successful transaction for Northern Telecom, adding that the company “continues to go from strength to strength and this latest acquisition complements the team’s plans for growth and bolsters their IT and cyber security offering.”
"We wish C-STEM continued success within the group and look forward to working closely with Jon and the team on future deals."
A growing threat from cyberattackers, a string of high-profile incidents and an increasingly stringent regulatory regime have led to ever growing demand for cybersecurity services. As a result, the market has established itself as one of the key growth drivers behind a booming dealmaking environment in the technology, media and telecoms (TMT) sector.
